Crazy Rainbow

The seventh opening (eighth if you count in the Straw Hat Pirates' version of We Are!) of One Piece is finally here, Crazy Rainbow, causing Brand New World, the sixth opening, to be the opening least in episodes, at only fifteen, compared to We Are! of around fifty or Believe of around seventy.

Here are my comments on it, as blunt as it may be.

Video-wise, most of them are just about the seven Straw Hats, Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Chopper, Robin and Usopp.

Why still Going Merry? At most it is only going to make one more appearance in the anime, to get everyone outta Enies Lobby, then it will be given a funeral by incinerating it. The Going Merry is a goner, get used to it. Especially after the sixteenth or seventeenth or so ending featuring a sad song with Going Merry's memories and it being swept into Aqua Laguna, now it comes back again in eighth opening? This is plain ridiculous. The Going Merry is history.

And why still Usopp? For fuck's sake, as Garp puts it, Usopp left the Straw Hats in Water 7, and even now in the latest manga, Usopp still haven't rejoin yet! Right, Usopp did help the Straw Hats in Enies Lobby as Sogeking, although doing a very great job, though you still gotta admit that burning down the enemies' flag, recruiting two whole freaking giants and holding his ground against Jyabura (until Sanji comes and kick his ass, literally) was quite impressive. I blame Luffy and Franky for defeating two CP9 members each though, causing Sogeking to have defeated no CP9. Anyway, to be on topic, Usopp indeed left the crew. It may be alright to show Sogeking as an ally, but Usopp, who had to resort to closely guarding his identity now? Then again, only Luffy and Chopper still don't know who Sogeking actually is, lol.

Since this is an opening during Enies Lobby, why are there only seven main characters in the video when the Straw Hats are aided by strong and powerful allies? What about Franky or Paulie, speculated to be the eighth Straw Hat, especially Franky, who helped defeated two freaking CP9, Nero and Fukurou, when the only one who took down two CP9 members other than Franky is Captain Luffy (Blueno and Lucci)? And what about the others? Zambai, Kiwi, Mozu and the rest of the Franky Family? Lulu, Tilestone, Iceburg and Galley-La Company? Kokoro, Chimney and Gonbe, who assist the Straw Hats, Franky Family and Galley-La forces to Enies Lobby? Oimo and Kaashi, vital in helping Galley-La Company against the thousands of Marines and soldiers in Enies Lobby? Even the enemies, Spandam, Lucci and the rest of the CP9? Nope, none of them made it to the opening. Gee. At least the fifth opening features the Franky Family (being thrashed by Zoro rofl), the Galley-La Company (though very short picture) and Kokoro, Chimney and Gonbe, and the sixth opening featuring the CP9.

What about other important characters who were mainly not in the arc, or in the arc but after they escaped Enies Lobby? No Smoker, no Tashigi, no Aokiji, no Blackbeard, no Dragon, no Garp (though Luffy's grandfather didn't really appear in any opening lol), no Whitebeard, no Vivi? Just three, Mihawk, Shanks and Ace? Wow.

And even though this opening is shown during the Enies Lobby, when the Straw Hats actually make combat with the CP9, does it show the intense of the arc? Does it show Luffy going Gear Third? Zoro going Nine-Swords-Style? Sanji doing Diable Jump? Chopper doing Monster Point (the one in sixth opening was a very brief one and only shows the head, lol)? We've basically seen Nami's Perfect Clima Tact in action (Sanji: That shock you gave me reminds me of the time we first met, Nami-san!) and Sogeking's Kabuto too (Sogeking: My newest weapon, the Great Pachinko, that goes by the name of Kabuto! Witness closely its firepower! Hissatsu Fire Bird Star!!).

Then again, did it show any types of combat? Maybe other than being attacked by a lousy, useless and random pirate crew, and that is only Zoro repelling a cannonball back (with a Pound Cannon I think, too fast) I believe, and Luffy doing Gomu Gomu no Fuusen (Balloon) to rebound another cannonball back and then Gomu Gomu no Rocket to the enemy ship and a Gomu Gomu no Gatling Gun to finish them. How lame.

As for the music, yet another complete failure. The previous six One Piece openings have attractive music, but Crazy Rainbow just sounds like most of those lame endings.

And I can't believe Brand New World only went for 15 episodes. They should use it for the entire Enies Lobby arc. Nice video, great music.

Pfft. Whatever.
