Freshman Orientation Day 1

The one thing that can change a person... is meeting another.

Lol, I feel so sorry for my blog and for you dedicated readers of my blog, hehheh, since I abandoned you guys for three days, thanks to my three days of orientation, lol. Next Monday, on the 21st of April, will be the first day of school. The start of my next stage in education and the start of my tertiary education at Temasek Polytechnic, haha. Well, a fresh start for a fresh beginning, sure, sure, okay. Hahaha. Looks like it's time for me to update my list of schools in my blog and my Friendster profile, eh? ;D

Well, okay. I think I should jolly well and start my blogging on what happened these three days, lol.

I was supposed to report for the camp and register at 8am, so I left the house at 7.20am and went to a coffeeshop in Block 138 for breakfast. Since I wasn't feeling particularly hungry, I only had two pieces of toast with kaya, as well as two half-boiled eggs for the sake of completeness. XD (Since according to Wikipedia, kaya toast, combined with a cup of local coffee and a half-boiled egg, makes a typical Singaporean breakfast. But of course, you guys know me, I don't like coffee, I prefered coca-cola instead. XD)

Arrived at my new school at about 7.50am, my bag made even heavier by my newly bought shoebag and Vernon's sleeping bag clipped onto it. There was no one I could recognize hanging out at the Temasek Informatics & IT School when I went there though. Feeling a bit lost, lol, I walked around and in the end decided to settle down on a bench, though I felt a bit worried, since it seems as if someone else had occupied that bench for his friends coming later to sit on, lol. Oh well, I left a while later and SMSed Yuhaimi, asking him where he is. Lol, Yuhaimi, only person I know from Ngee Ann Secondary who is going to the Temasek Informatics & IT School with me, lol!

Just a short while later after I SMSed him, I saw Yuhaimi coming towards me and waving his hands, lol. We went walking around like a pair of lost birds (don't ask me why "birds" :x) together, lol, until we found the place of registration for Yuhaimi's course, so I stood at a corner and waited for him to complete his registration. I'm rather grateful for Yuhaimi deciding to help me find where I should register for my course first before going back to the Lecture Threatre (or LT for short) where he and other people taking the same course as him are supposed to gather, haha. Thanks, Yuhaimi! :D *wonders if Yuhaimi would read this lol*

Turns out the location was written in the letter they sent to us, just that I didn't bother to read it detailedly, lol. The two of us took a lift down from the third floor to the first and found where I was supposed to register, lol. Hmmm, looking at the papers there, seems like my care group (I'm thinking it's something like a "class" in primary and secondary schools) is C205. Hmm, rather easy to remember, lol. After registrating, Yuhaimi took the lift back up again, so I headed to the LT where me and other people taking the same course as me are supposed to gather, while waving goodbye to Yuhaimi.

The LT was wow... How should I describe it...? It's kinda like in a cinema, lol! The seats are higher and higher at the back row, and it was really kind of amazing how freaking high it was at the most back row, lol. And oh, boy, what do you know? The people in my care group have to sit at the three rows from the back, the highest seats available, behind the two care groups of C203 and C204, lol! It was rather scary sitting at the back, haha, especially since the drop downwards look so painful... but...
"Since the beginning, no one has ever stood in the heavens. Neither you, nor I, nor even God himself. But that unbearable vacancy in the Throne of Heaven shall be filled. From this day forth... I will stand in the heavens."
-Aizen Sousuke, Bleach
:P! Seeing that the back row is mostly vacant, except for a guy sitting at the extreme right, I decided to sit on his left and try to interact with him. After all, he's someone whom I would be getting along with for three whole years, lol! And lol, what a coincidence, his name seems to be exactly the same as Vernon's Chinese name, Yong Heng, lol! Except his is spelt as "Yong Han" in English. And what's more is that his appearance looked rather like Sean, haha! Wow, my best friend in secondary school and best friend in primary friend rojak together. o.O And me asking him whether I can sit beside him reminds me of the beginning of my secondary school life, lol. At the new class of 1E4, I saw Joel sitting at the first row and asked him if I can sit beside him too, lol. And lol, he's from East Spring Secondary. Our secondary schools are neighbours. XD

And just after I found myself a seat, I was greeted by a rather disgusting and disturbing video on YouTube shown on the visualizer. Watching it made the others laughed. Watching it made me do facepalms while sighing, "やれやれ。。。 (Yare yare...; Oh boy...)". Go watch it at your own risk.

I also had a little chat with the person sitting in front of Yong Han, lol. I didn't know his name, since his name looked rather complicated when I checked up the name list, and he didn't want to tell me his name himself, lol. Instead, he told me to refer to him as "KK", the initials of his Chinese name, lol. Sure, okay, KK, haha. XP (Pun obviously intended :P) Reminds me of Dave's e-mail address, kkforever86@hotmail.com, lol! (Feel free to send him spam and chain letters, guys. )

Yong Han's friend from East Spring Secondary who is also in the same course as us comes along a while later. A rather fat-looking guy reminding me a bit of Alvin (though Alvin seems to be the "easily being bullied"-type, while this guy seems to be the "easily bullying others"-type XP), his name is Jian Shun, I believe, though I only learnt it a few days later, haha. His manner of speech is rather cute, lol, he tends to add "pl0x?" behind his sentences (like "I own you pl0x?" and "Cabal sucks pl0x?"), resembling leetspeak, lol! Well, I think it's kinda expected to hear this. After all, everyone who comes to this course of Games & Entertainment Technology (or GET for short) is sure to be interested in gaming, right? And leetspeak is just one part of the fun of gaming!! XD Though, to admit it, you can't tell through just speech alone whether he is saying "please?" or "pl0x?" (since both words have the same pronounciation, I assume). I just assume he is saying "pl0x?", since after all, we are all gamers. XD

After watching some boh liao videos on YouTube, we moved on to the ice-breaker games. Break teh ice, whoohooo!!

During the ice-breaker games, I just learnt... that there were actually people from Ngee Ann Secondary other than me entering the same course as me! O_O In the same Care Group as me furthermore!! O______O Two of them some more!! O______________O Hyuu~! For some reason, I never knew that there were anybody from Ngee Ann coming to this course until then, lol. But then again, I barely recognized them... Well, one of them told me he's from 4R5, and checking the yearbook (it was rather easy to find him. He was standing at the most back row, at the extreme left, in his class photo. Exactly where I am standing in my class photo XD), his name is Kuan Wei, lol. As for the other one... nmaa... I forgot how he looked like, so how do I check for his name or class when I know neither? ;_;

After that was lunch, lol. The lunch... well, its appearance looks rather good. But the taste... eww... quite sucky, lol... Combined with the fact that I was rather full after a few hours of eating breakfast meant that I threw my lunch away after finishing only half of it, lol. ;_; Had to hide it a bit, since everyone on my table finished his lunch completely, lol. Well, it's good to know that my buddy Vernon from the Temasek Engineering School over at the west of the campus is doing the same thing as me. XD

Oh, and speaking of the people on my table, I was sitting with five other guys from my care group, lol. Three of them I know their names (although one of them only much later :P), Yong Han, KK and Jian Shun. The other two, I don't know their names, lol, and I can only remember one of those two's faces. XP But hey, the six of us seem to chat rather well, lol. Well, that goes without saying. It's obvious that the people coming to this course will all share one interest - gaming, lol. Most of the time it's Jian Shun and the guy whom I don't remember his face (:P) chatting about all sorts of games, though when they were discussing about Warcraft III, I joined in. It's good to know that somewhere in this world, there are people who prefer Warcraft III to DotA, lol. Before that, I only knew that there are Ming Yuen and me, haha. ;_;

After lunch, we had a speech from the Course Manager. Hmmm, I can't wait to get started on learning about game programming and developing, haha, though, it sure seems that it is going to be highly competitive... Hmmm, oh well. I'll just have to bash and smash everyone in my way, and I win, eh? :P

After that, was some mass dance. Zzzzzzzzzzzz... It was totally boring and a freaking waste of time in my opinions, and it freaking lasted for two hours. Worse of all, since there were only four girls in the entire course of seventy-two people (;_____________; I feel like ranting about it later ;____________;), most of us guys get paired up... with each other. *slaps forehead* Well, at least I'm better off than KK, who's in front of me. He gets paired up with a Malay girl, and that girl absolutely refuses to dance with him! That's like outright rejection pl0x? In the end, the two of us went to the back, where Yong Han, Shun Jian, as well as two other people, were either sitting down, leaning on a wall or lying down, and slacking, and joined them, waiting for this stupid activity to end. Those two hours were seriously so boring we could have went crazy. Worse of all, my handphone's battery went absolutely dead and my handphone refused to boot up at all, despite the fact that I left home with the battery bar full! What the fuck?! I'm buying a new handphone battery AS FREAKING SOON AS POSSIBLE!! I just need to remember it.

I didn't know just how the fuck the few of us managed to survive, but I must say one thing, I am very proud of myself and my survival skills, and I am sure that my nakama would agree with me, that they too, are also proud of themselves and their own survival skills. :)

Just when we were thinking, "Finally! At long last!", when the activity ended, it was seriously an "out of the frying pan and into the fire". We went back to the LT... just to learn some cheers. Oh gawd. I would have prefered the "Cheer" skill in Final Fantasy X where you can increase the Attack and Defense stats of your entire party, but nope, this is not that "cheer" we are talking about here. Sigh. -_-

After that, we went to shower, while Jian Shun went home because he was rather bored by how the orientation is going, lol. Since the toilets would obviously be choked full if everyone rushes into the toilet at once to shower, we have to instead take turns and go to the toilet in groups. After waiting for a while, the four of us, composing of me, Yong Han, KK and someone else I can't remember who (lol), went to the shower together, accompanied by an OL (or Orientation Leader).

It was a long way from the Temasek Informatics & IT School to the Sports Complex where the showers are, lol, but hey, the showers there are kinda cool, haha! You get to adjust the temperature of the water, and the water comes gushing out of a hollow, metal pipe with a large diameter, whoohooo! Haha, so the showering was really cool, haha. :P After the shower, the OL who accompanied us disappeared, but another OL was there, since he just brought two people from our course (forgot who they are too, didn't bother to take much notice x_X) here too. After everyone was done, the four of us, plus the two people the OL brought, were accompanied back by the second OL.

And lol, while walking back towards the Temasek Informatics & IT School, our OL just remembered that he had to go to work today, but he came here instead. Owned. :P

Guess where we had our dinner later...? At the Temasek Applied Science School, outside their Inorganic Chemistry Lab. -_____- All the other benches, places and whatnot where we can eat were already occupied by other groups of people, sigh. Eating our dinners while sitting along the corridor there reminded us of refugees, so from that time onwards, we started to refer to that place as "refugee camp", lol!

The dinner was not bad, haha, since I managed to finish it. :P Though... why char kway teow for dinner?

After dinner was a briefing for a night walk. The briefing made the night walk sound really exciting. We had to go around the campus, searching for and collecting "apples". There would also be an obstacle for us. Some masked musician walking around playing music. We were told to squat down and sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" if we ever encounter him to avoid having our apples being consfiscated, though I suggested that we gang up on him, surround him, beat him up and see what loot he drops. XP Lol, we play games too much, but hey! Don't tell me we are going to lose a twenty-on-one fight! Strength in numbers, buddy! :P

But they just have to spoil the exciting effect the briefing gives us by showing us some horror movies trying to scare us. =.= Anti-climatic, man! The first movie was some Thai film named "Shutter" on YouTube, which rather bores me, since I'm not one who likes horror movies, and tend to always prepare myself mentally so I don't get scared (I don't know about you guys, but I prefer NOT to be scared -.-).

Well, it's easy to avoid being scared if you know how to watch out for signs of it. If it suddenly goes awfully quiet, heads up, man, and I freaking mean "heads up". The scary part is bound to be coming, together with a suddenly loud voice to freak you out. Once you hear that it has become damn quiet, prepare yourself, since a scary part is soooo obviously coming. *rolls eyes*

And yeah, I was pretty bored by the movie, since the plot rather sucks in my opinions, lol. Once, I was sitting with my head on my hand and tilted ninety degrees clockwise so I can try and sleep, with my elbow on the table. A scary part came out, with a really scary and huge image of the ghost popping out, but since I had my head tilted, I was also looking at the movie tilted, and had to spend five seconds trying to rotate what I just saw inside my mind upright so I can interpret what everyone is all screaming about. But once I did that, I was no longer scared by it, since I was sort of pre-warned by everyone shouting in horror left, right and center. Hyuu~! Lagginess does serve a purpose! XD

Just after we finished watching that, I thought it was finally over at long last, and that we can hurry up and move on to the night walk, but nooooo, they just had to show us another horror movie. Oh, boy, I'm already crying out of boredom... T____T The next one was a Japanese movie named "One Missed Call", and we were watching it on CrunchyRoll this time. I was so bored I didn't even pay attention to the movie pl0x? Though, near the beginning part, there was a bit of pornography where a woman's breast can be seen. And all the guys go horny, shouting, "PAUSE THAT PART! PAUSE THAT PART!" *slaps forehead and does a facepalm* Are you sure these horny assholes are going to be my classmates for the next three years...? I shudder to think about my future...

Thankfully, we were off and going for the nightwalk after watching about twenty minutes of the movie. I almost collapsed and died of boredom, y'know? The night walk, well, not really much to talk about (yeah, right, I'm looking forward to seeing how much crap I'll be typing during the next five minutes :P). Now I finally get the point of them showing us horror movies beforehand, the OLs were pretending to be ghosts and scaring us as we were looking for the apples. -.- Well, one thing to be sure, I'm glad there's only one girl in our care group (there's two, but the other went home because apparently, the movies were too scary for her. Well, she could try tilting her head and watching the movie, I suppose... :P), it would be easy to protect her, lol, though I must say, that's not my job. I'm sure I can count on some of the most chivalrous knights out of my twenty or so classmates to protect her. Meanwhile... *cracks knuckles* leave that masked magician to me!! :)

Lol, looking around rooms for apples in almost total and complete darkness with ghosts wandering around among us was kind of weird lol. We can't even identify who is in front of us, so we often have to ask, "自己人还是鬼? (People on our own side, or ghost?)" XD! And lol, KK told me that there was even one ghost who grabbed his ankle. Well, if I were him (by "him", I meant KK, not the ghost -.-), I would have send him flying upwards with a kick from the other leg to free myself ("Hero Hero Volcano!!"), then jumped upwards and send him flying straight down and crashing into the floor with a loud bang with a downwards kick ("Hero Hero Axe!!"). But nope, instead, I get a girl ghost pulling my pants. Well, of course, but since...

I just went, "Excuse me, can you not pull my pants?" Lol...

Oh, and it helps to have a torchlight hidden in your pockets, especially when they have already stated that torchlights are not allowed. I have to check whether the coast is clear or not, whether the OL with us or the ghosts are watching or not, before I turn on my torchlight, or, for a cooler phrase, "call up my Sharingan". I'm not sure if Sharingan can see through darkness or not though, lol... My "Sharingan" was the easiest to use in a corner, behind a wall and in the OLs' blind spots, mwahaha. Found quite a few apples hiding in corners and even one inside a fire extingushier all thanks to my "Sharingan". :D

Oh, and in one of the rooms, we found a sword! Well, can't really see, it's damn dark, and we found it right in the center of the corridor, so it would be rather obvious if I "use my Sharingan" to examine the sword. But from touching it, it felt rather solid, but doesn't seem to be wood or metal. Damn, I want to kope it lol, but it's too big to smuggle out, and the ghost would freaking shout, "DON'T TOUCH MY THINGS!", so we had to drop it. Major bummer. :(

Meh, we didn't encounter that masked magician at all. I even totally forgot about his existence, until KK came over and asked me, "So did we even see any masked magician?" XD!

Hmmmm, I think that's about it. We went back to the LT, all sweaty, to take our bags to the Sports Complex, where we had to sleep. We were also given a choice whether to take a shower or not while having supper. Initially, we were rather lazy and didn't want to bathe, but since it was rather hot and stuffy, and that we were wearing sweaty T-shirts, Yong Han, KK, Sebastian (a guy with rather long hair and Aizen's spectacles lol) and I decided to go and shower, so the four of us went down and had another one for today, lol.

After having our showers, we went back and had supper, and finally sat around in a circle for a debriefing. Rofl, when the OLs asked KK how he thought today was, he answered, "It was very interesting." The OLs were shocked, since he was the first one to give such a positive answer, asked, "Serious?" Guess what KK replied? "It was a white lie." Lmao! XD

After that, Yong Han, KK and I went to find a spot to sleep. Mostly everyone was sleeping at the borders, so I decided that we sleep in the middle instead. Mwahaha, I like being different from others. XD! Two people from the same care group as us also came and sleep a little further away from where we slept, while Aaron also came and joined us. The four of us, being unable to sleep because it was rather hot, woke up, sat up and had a little chat about game concepts and stuff, at KK's suggestion, until 3am, when an OL walked past and told us to go to sleep.

Since it was quite hot, none of us even bothered to open up our sleeping bags, instead using them as pillows. Heck, KK didn't even bring a sleeping bag, lol, but since Aaron had an inflatable pillow, he lent his sleeping bag to KK. Shouldn't have bring a sleeping bag, lol, I could use my bag as a pillow and sleep comfortably with it. :P

Quake: ps: my sleeping bag not big enough to fit a girl in with u hor..dont try it!!! =x

Lmao, Vernon, lmao! XD
